Meta Connect 2023 was a virtual event where Meta announced a number of new products and features, including the Quest 3 VR headset, Ray-Ban smart glasses, and Meta AI.
Quest 3 VR Headset
The Quest 3 is Meta's latest VR headset and it features a number of improvements over the previous generation, including:
Improved passthrough tech: The Quest 3's passthrough tech allows you to see the real world around you without having to take off the headset.
10x improvement in the number of pixels in the full-color passthrough tech: This means that you'll be able to see the real world around you in more detail than ever before.
Ray-Ban Smart Glasses
The glasses have a 12-megapixel camera and an LED light that flips on to alert others that you're recording. The glasses can also be used to make calls, listen to music, and get directions.
Meta AI
The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has announced a slew of new AI features that are set to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. These features include:
AI chatbots: Meta's AI chatbots can answer questions, generate images, and translate languages. They are powered by a large language model called Llama 2, which has been trained on a massive dataset of text and code.
AI image editing tools: Meta's AI image editing tools can change the style or background of an image. They can also be used to create new images from scratch.
AI stickers: Meta's AI stickers can be created by typing in a description. They can then be used in chats, messages, and stories.

⚠️ An AI Deepfake Ad of MrBeast Ended Up on TikTok ⚠️
TechCrunch reports that a fraudulent MrBeast ad, created using AI deepfake technology, slipped past TikTok’s ad moderation technology and ended up on the platform. The ad featured the massively influential creator offering 10,000 viewers an iPhone 15 Pro for just $2 . While this would be a clear indication of a scam in most cases, coming from MrBeast, it could actually be believable
Why Does It Matter?
Deepfake ads are a new and dangerous form of online advertising. They use artificial intelligence to create fake videos of people saying or doing things that they never actually said or did. These ads can be very convincing and they are becoming increasingly sophisticated and accessible.
While internet-famous celebrities like MrBeast appeal to younger generations, older consumers are also being fooled by deceptive deepfakes. Actor Tom Hanks and CBS anchor Gayle King have already warned their followers that they’re being deepfaked into fraudulent ads
